This review is from: Samsung Series 3 NP350U2A-A01US 12.5-Inch Laptop (Black) (Personal Computers) Spent a long while debating over tablet vs. small laptop. Finally decided on this Samsung Series 3 NP350U2A-A01US 12.5-Inch Laptop with i3 Intel processor. Would have preferred the i5 processor that was featured in all the CNET reviews I looked at, but even with the i3 this is still a steal.The design is sleek and professional. The keyboard is true to size and is very easy to use. Even the touchpad does not slow me down. Other reviews (both on Amazon and on CNET) said had a little lag between using touchpad and keyboard, but I have not had any issues. The best part is the weight and the battery life. The extra 4 hours in battery life is SOOOOO worth the extra money over the Samsung Series 3 NP300 earlier model that is still offered on Amazon. There is little to no heat from the laptop because the vent is facing to the rear and not located in the base like a lot of other laptop models. The weight is around 3lbs. This means it is small like a tablet and I can slip it into my purse but it still has the full functionality of a larger laptop. My main use for this is to run PowerPoint presentations... can't really do that efficiently with tablets or netbooks because they just don't have the processing ability. So if you need a solid PC for personal use, but still like to have something that you can carry around easily... this is definitely the one to pick! HELPFUL HINTS --- The product description does not indicate that the laptop comes with a VGA adaptar as part of the included peripherals. So, don't buy a VGA adaptar, you get one in the box with the computer already. Also, if you are looking for a laptop sleeve to protect your new baby... all sleeves that fit the 13"Mac Air will also fit this laptop. Bottom line... this is a great machine with a lot of power for the price. Super small and light with a big enough screen to actually use. Keyboard is full size and very type-able. Super thin due to built in 6 hour battery. Has a nice feature which limits battery charging to 80% which is supposed to allow 1000 charges instead of the normal 300 or so. Screen is good, not great, but has matte finish which is terrific in bright places. Starts up from sleep in just a few seconds. The difference in portability has made life on the road much easier. So far it has performed great for me over the last couple of months.Its small size and light weight make it a great laptop for travel. It compares very favorably to many of the ultrabooks out there, but without the hefty price tag. It also gives you full Windows OS, decent memory and full keyboard so is a great option for those considering a tablet but not wanting to lose the functunality, the software and the connectivity of a laptop. The keyboard has a nice feel. The trackpad is responsive without being too sensitive. The computer has a great sleep function that is extremely responsive. It powers off quick when the lid is shut and automatically saves what you're working on. Once restarted, the computer powers up very quickly and resumes the apps that you had open so you can start working again right where you left off. This start up is way quicker than what I've been used to and saves a lot of time. Battery performance has been good. I can get 6 to 8 hours off a full charge consistently allowing me to go a full work day before plugging in. Power mode options give good control over performance and power consumption. The only dissapointment is the speaker quality. There isn't much range in the sound or the volume. You have to crank it up to hear decently and the quality of sound is noticeably lacking. That's unfortunate but not a big deal, I just pack my headphones. Overall I'm very pleased with the performance of this laptop. What it delivers for the price makes it a deal I strongly recommend. |
